How Often Should You Clean Your Aircon in Pattaya?

In Pattaya, aircon often runs most of the day. Humid air and sea salt mean the coil and fan collect dust and mould faster than in cooler, drier places.
A simple guide
- Every 3 months: units running all day, bedrooms, holiday rentals, sea-facing condos and homes with pets
- Every 4 to 6 months: units used mainly in the evenings
- Filters: rinse every 2 to 4 weeks yourself, it takes five minutes
Signs your aircon needs cleaning now
- A musty or damp smell when it starts
- Black spots on the louvres or vent
- Water dripping from the indoor unit
- Weaker airflow or the room takes longer to cool
- Sneezing or stuffy noses at night
What a proper clean includes
Washing the filters is not enough. A full clean covers the coil, the blower barrel (the fan where black mould hides) and the drain tray and line. A protective cover bag keeps the wall and floor dry.
How to wash filters yourself
Switch the unit off, lift the front panel, slide the filters out, rinse under a tap from the back, let them dry fully in the shade and slide them back in.
